A Daughter's Tribute

A Daughter's Tribute

A Poem by Sarah Sopher
"

I wrote this for my mom when I moved out when I was 12...

"
From the moment I was born, right up until today, you have been my teacher in more than one way! You taught me how to love, you taught me how to live. You taught me to be strong, to forget, and forgive. You were holding my hand when I took my first steps at a walk. For better or for worse, you taught me how to talk. You always told me to persevere. You helped me to acknowledge fear. You held my hand when I crossed the road. You’ve always been there to lighten my load. Mom, you’ve taught me many things, too many to be counted, sung, or read. I hope to be as good a mother as you. But, that is harder done and easier said. Mom, you’ve taught me to soar and fly. Yet, I still need a lesson on saying goodbye. I know that this is for the better, though it may not seem as such. Mom, you are the best and I love you very much! We must now part, for night is near. The day has ended, darkness is here. But, do not fret for we’ll meet again when the light of day begins to appear. I am your sun and you are my moon. I just hope that tomorrow comes very soon... Love you Mom... <3

I really enjoyed your poem I liked how it rhymed and flowed together. I think many people will be able to relate to it and remember the love and appreciation they have for their mother.

Beautiful indeed and such a wonderful tribute to your mom. You wrote from the heart and that always brings out much emotion.
I love the phrase....I am your sun and you are my moon...

It sounds like the character in the poem admires her mom, maybe a comfortable way to say good bye at night could be if the mother tells her bed time stories to influence her dreams.
