I Am

I can’t remember the author or where I heard/saw it, but a quote along the lines of “She is the sky.” inspired this :)

I am not the bird with an ability to fly.
Nor am I the fish with a need to swim.
I am the sky and all its colors.
I am the sea encompassing mystery.
I am the feeling of sadness on a wonderfully warm day.
I am the smell of tea surrounded by pouring rain.
I am not the sun, the moon, or all the stars,
But instead the black empty spaces between each one.
I am certainly not the beautiful opal stone,
Yet I am the diffraction causing its iridescence.

I am what is hard to describe.
I am what is easy to feel.
I am all the things you look at,
But never truly see.
