If the Truth Be Told

If the Truth Be Told

A Poem by Stacey J Hubbard

The walls are closing in
I dont know what to say, where to begin
my head and heart fighting a battle neither can win
Sometimes I think speaking the truth is our only sin

What if the truth isn't what they want to hear
What if the truth is what will make them push you away at the time you need them to hold you near
What if the truth makes the path rocky when you need it to be clear

No one can be certain what the future holds
But if the truth be told
No ifs, not buts
It doesnt matter if it cuts
Right down to the core
When it comes down to it the truth is the law
