Black Widow

Black Widow

A Poem by Steffi Buchler

Oh, black widow, why do you hide?

Why do you hide behind your false, fake wall.

The wall I see reminds me of nothing but

the blood I saw running down my legs.

I feel helpless yet again but

I do not want to be taken back

into this hell I once felt so at ease in.

Am I still the black widow?

When it was I thought I had changed

and developed into a ladybird, or at least a moth?

But no, I still remain the same.

If the black widow can never become good

does that mean it is condemned to be evil?

It crawls out again.

The black widow

that has to hide, again,

behind her false, fake wall.
