My Crazy Life, part one

My Crazy Life, part one

A Story by Stephanie M
"

This is a story about the crazy summer I spent in Texas.

"
When I was a child, the only thing I wanted, was to be able to live with my mom.
I tried to move in with her a couple times before; once was I was eight, and again when
I was twelve. Things never seemed to work out. My mom had always been more of a
friend to me, than a mother.
The last time I tried to move in with my mom, I was 15. During those couple
months I lived in Texas, we sure had some crazy times!
We used to prank her boyfriend. We used to get up early in the morning, and
put pieces of cactus in his shoes!
One day, when my mother's boyfriend was taking me to check out a new
karate studio, I stuck a maxi pad on top of his car. He couldn't figure out why people
kept honking at him!
My mother and I used to dance in the isles of this Mexican grocery store, that
played salsa music, called Fiesta.
My mother would make fun of herself, because she thought that she had a big butt,
so she would intentionally walk around with her butt sticking out. (She would crouch down
when she was walking, to make her butt look bigger) I used to make fun of myself, because I'm top heavy, and I would puff out my chest while I was walking, to make my
b***s look bigger.
My mother and I used to have these crazy, "fashion shows." We would go to
thrift stores, and try on the most hideous clothes we could find,
When I started school, my mother used to pack me hard boiled eggs for lunch.
As you probably know, it gets very hot, and humid, in Texas! I bought lunch one day,
forgetting that I still had a hard boiled egg in my bookbag. I must have left it in there
for over a week. They actually had to fumigate the school! I don't think they ever did
figure out where that smell was coming from.
I'll never forget the day we went to Galveston, to fish for crabs. We didn't
realize that the ones we caught, were so creepy looking, until we got home and
dumped them into the sink. They looked just like spiders! I refused to eat them.
I'll never forget that summer, even though things didn't work out. We shared a
lifetime of laughs.
