Should have known

Should have known

A Poem by stephsand14

I despise the fact that you make me wait.

Where are you?  Out running around, I bet.

Should have known when I chose you as my date.

My love - I think I’m on the verge of hate,

But, if you decide to come, I’ll leap.  Yet,

I despise the fact that you make me wait.

I heard of you and of someone named Kate.

Could it be with her, that you again met?

Should have known when I chose you as my date.

Shocked?  Why?  It’s not the first that you are late.

Many times you’ve insisted not to fret.

I despise the fact that you make me wait.

Why do you fail to communicate?

I am well dressed, and the table is set.

Should have known when I chose you as my date.

When I saw you, I was sure it was fate.

I could not see all the secrets you kept.

I despise the fact that you make me wait.

Should have known when I chose you as my date.
