A Poem by Steven Fleissner

I wish for sunshine wine from bountiful vine

Rose petals white and a warming bright light

Turning tires

Smiling strangers

I wish for a song in my ear and acts without fear

Crystal water clear and fresh air to share

I wish for friendship between disease and cure

and ego's troubles made more pure

I wish I was that ranger-masked snowbird

mated for too-short life

A steep canyon's ripple flowing in now

and a miracle for the cripple

Keep wondering how

I wish I was the rear-view mirror in her shiny red car

Sharing that image, in sync, near and far

I wish I was the kings' advisor

and the queens' secret fiddler

Michael's sword?

The prophet's word

Fire's never-same light

Van Gogh's Starry Night

I wish I was the politicians' conscience

and I stop all the nonsense

Quit a war we don't want anymore

I wish I was the new tax man knocking on big corp.s door

'Cause our world shouldn't end up just rich and poor

I wish love was the rule and we all just heard the band

Wouldn't that be cool?

Peace man
