Open Windows

Open Windows

A Poem by KAREN
"

Windows of life!

"

Family is an open window,

floods of joy flowing in ones life

the minute you come into the world.

Sometimes you're born into a family,

other times your invited.

Comforting mothers always seeing the good in you.

Stern fathers with strong loving hands,

guiding you through to adulthood.

Brothers and sisters fill voids in your life.

Grandparents give you old tales to cherish and share.

Aunts and uncles give the best advice.

Never go astray,

falling into unknown territory,

closing the window,

leaving you without guidance.

Friendship is an open window,

sunshine glistening, brightening up your life.

Supporters of all size, shape and color,

befriending you, taking you under their comforting wing.

Friends can be many people......

your family

Your mate

a stranger

True friends come far and between.

Never be dishonest, uncaring or deceiving.

Windows of friendship can close

as quickly as the sun goes down in the evening,

leaving you cold and in the darkness all alone.

Love is an open window,

it blows in like a cool morning breeze.

Delightful attractiveness pierces your heart.

Unlimited love spills over your whole being.

Two people filled with affectionate intimacy,

bodies combined to make one.

Always stay faithful and trustworthy.

Never let the window close because of deceit and lies,

leaving you vulnerable and without.

There are many open windows,

leading to opportunities that give fulfillment.

Family

friendship

love

All of which needs to be nurtured, appreciated

and cared for.

I think you've written a very nice, thought-provoking poem, and the metaphor of the window is excellent. The way I interpret it, the windows are portals into our being that we may choose to either close or leave open.

I think the format is intriguing and immediately draws the reader in. Your words are uplifting and not forced. This poem is full of wisdom and left me with a smile.

this is definitely the definition of the comforts of family - it is obvious the writer acknowledges the pain as well as the pleasure of having family - i enjoyed the balance of consideration...

Very nice poem that gives the optomistic view of life. The way life should be! Naturally life is rarely like this. So many friends and lovers are false. Families implode and the window becomes a blood red frame of nightmares. Indeed the foulest events in life are when the closest bonds sever. Human nature can resist or spurn family, friendship & love! Many hate, undermine and disregard the fine qualities outlined in this work. However one can only admire the optomistic and lofty messages conveyed in this work.
