RHONDA LEE AND SPIDER

By STORY PRICE

Rhonda lee was sleeping hard; her day was at an end.

Her fingers and most cutesy feet all tucked up in a bend.

Under cover and snuggled tight, deep somewhere in dreams.

Resting oh so comfortably, under moonlight beams.

All was still within her room; her cat was quietly purring.

Rhonda’s lamp was turned down low; one couldn’t see the stirring.

T’was Spider on his nightly walk, going somewhere fast...

He didn’t know, that this one walk, might just be his last.

Now spying lovely Rhonda Lee, he wanted to give kiss...

Maybe steal a drop of blood; surely wouldn’t be missed.

He crept right past her sleeping eye, not wanting for a greeting…

It did not matter anyway, for the Sandman she was meeting.

So this was it, Ol’ Spider knew...the time to do his deed.

His fangs were cold and had much thirst; taste of pleasure in need.

All he wanted was just one bite, and happy he would leave...

No more wants for this one night, nothing up his sleeve.

But Spider fell in much deep thought, content with what he had...

Feeling with the ease of things; it could drive one most mad.

Yet this time was oh so strange, Ol’ Spider forgot ‘bout Cat...

That was ‘thing he couldn’t forget, nervous he now sat.

For Cat had left her sacred spot; was nowhere to be seen...

Spider knew an angry Cat could be downright mean.

He turned to his left and turned to his right, to see if Cat was near...

Then he turned all back around; a face full of Cat and fear.

“Not tonight and not again” said the Cat to the tiny pest...

And in one fell swoop, Cat’s claw flashed and put Ol’ Spider to rest.

Story, I thought this was well written and from the Spider's point of view, even better.
