Negative

Negative

A Poem by John Stussy
"

One of my fictitious poems. Inspired by a negative image of my eyes.

"

I’m a clean-cut business man,

My family is stable,

And my life is secure.

I’m a living epitome of

Living the American dream.

Combed-back hair

And a monotone suit.

I’m happy with it all, really.

But… I’m also more.

Have you looked at the negative?

Oh, yes.

There is quite the difference.

You see, somewhere inside me

Lays this desire to let loose.

Deep inside I’m a psychopath.

I’ll slit your throat

And grin with pleasure

As Your warm blood spatters,

Heats my cool skin.

I’ll look into your eyes and smile,

Chit-chatting with you

As your life bleeds away.

I could pull a gun

And let loose all the bullets,

Finding them new casings to hold them

Within other people’s bodies.

Their lives can end

And I’d be grinning with pure joy.

Their corpses will land,

Blood spilling for my amusement.

I could leap from a thousand foot building,

Singing a jolly tune to the end.

I could give myself the hangman’s noose

With the same grin of killing others.

With the flick of a knife

I could end this dumb life.

Death, life, what’s the difference?

It’s all a big joke, why be so serious?

Have you seen that part of me?

I caught the allusions in this one, and I'm going to say that the Joker was a heavy influence to this!!!! It gave me shivers, I've tried looking at negatives of myself, but I dare not look too close. (And I could almost hear the joker's laugh in the back of my mind) wow, my friend, Bravo!! *claps and whistles* ~Pyrite

Well (Insert really big grin) I am a thinker, enlighten thinker at that, who knows myself more then anybody. I socially present myself as capable of holding still and smiling (I sell deli at my local Wal Mart, and I am good). But in the mirror, when I look at myself, I see my inner reflections of me since my mind is a broken mirror, it just creates a distorted delusion of my self I can't trust. I see all my fears, pains, issues, and phobias... and I become more cold.

Oh there is more, I can go on forever, but this is a review of your work, very well done poem, awsome question. Great job.

Well written. That part of you, you probly keep tucked away like most. We only let those see what we want them to see.

Geat insight.

Well, it's a great work, really it is. But, I must confess thinking of the joker when I saw the words "why be so serious?".

If you really wanna know what I see in my own eyes.. I see danger on the brink of overload (that, being my obsessions, which I'm prone to having). But, also I see bits and pieces of everyone I've ever met. Everyone who ever made me who I am. I see originality, and a thirst to change the world in some way, even if I already have. That's what I see. I read other people easier than I read myself, though.

Good job, thanks for the challenge.. Buona Notte (good night, in Italian).

This is amazingly dark. I like it. How many people have truly looked into the mirror? I know it is difficult for me. I, in one instance, see the loving, caring person I hope to be. Then, in a blink, I can transform to someone that is full of deeper, darker intent. Thank you for getting me to look inward it has been awhile.

"And let loose all the bullets,
Finding them new casings to hold them
Within other people's bodies."

Those lines...Epic.

I loved this poem. My eyes are dark. If i look in them, sure they are a light shade of green with amber rims but I see playfulness, like a cat as it stalks its prey. They smile , ever waiting to pounce.

Amazing poem baby
