![]() corvus coroneA Poem by stylax![]() one of my favourite poems i've written, inspired by an incident a year ago![]() a long time ago a day far in the past, the day of yester i witnessed the fall of humanity a low point in our civilisation under that scorching sun shielding my eyes i saw a gaggle a clan no, a web of children all interlocking limbs and arms flung over shoulders their whispers were deafening i wondered what trinket had caught their attention they parted way for me their older, their senior the trusted one and as i peered down among the mass i saw the bauble that had enraptured them so it was a crow a corvid Huginn or was it Muninn? i could never remember the crow was dead. as the infants fled to all corners of the globe i stood exploring this incident a gash of crimson marking a hole in its ribs. red and black i crouched examining its eyes staring into the cosmos of my hands i lay interacting with this calamity this rip in the world as i knew it i took him into my hands cradling his body his corpse and i tucked him into the crook of my arm and I curled up protecting him from mocking laughter and callous remarks i kept him warm. and he returned the favour as a stain of red marked my clothes, spreading up my neck, and coating my face he and i fell asleep
