Silence Reigns Again

Silence Reigns Again

A Poem by Subhadeep Banerjee

Sweet silence takes over...

The sound of my breathing,
Ever so loud-
Pressing at my ears;
Beating of my heart,
Ever so steady-
Driving me insane...

What happened to sweet silence?
How I wish these sounds would stop!
I can't take them anymore.

Drown me into sweet silence:
Stay with me-
Soundless music of the night.

Ah! The strings of melancholy;
Behold! My violin of solitude-
This wordless poetry of endless pain,
Voicing the joys of loneliness.

Sweet silence, I'm yours forever!
Take me in your soothing arms;
Purify me- I'm ready.

Ha! "Sweet silence", perfect wording. The personification of silence is vibrant. A great poem. Just a thought - This would've done better when rhymed. Kudos. Keep writing.
