Still Unshared

Still Unshared

A Poem by Subhadeep Banerjee

I walk, careless,
Over the shards of my shattered dreams
The wounds go deep,
Yet I don't bleed...
No throbbing, no pain flinch me;
Only the soothing coolness of Novocaine,
Killing the sensations threatening
TO break my chosen silence...
Here I lie,
With my broken desires,
The choking illusions of better days
Causticise me in the cauldrons of despair.
I live, I smile,
Every moment of weakness locked inside
The darkest vaults of my mind.
My defenses grow weak, yet I stand my ground,
Avoiding, desperately, thoughts of another life.
These locked jaws can bear still more;
My eyes can conceal stronger feelings...

A familiar face comes into view-
I turn my gaze elsewhere.

your capacity to express the depths of human pain is overwhelming~ that is a rare gift to not only engage the reader in the life/circumstance/emotion/state of being but to transfer the emotion itself into the pulse of the reader~
