Oh the Humanity

Oh the Humanity

A Poem by Subversive Reality

Oh dear, my dears, are we really here again?
Back at doors throats and shores

With our sails and weapons forged
For no reason but our end and destruction?

Are we really to argue, as if argument mends our trouble?
In what where and why do we struggle, insidiously, continuously
From Syria to Afghanistan and backwards to world wars

And hundred years torn tearing lives asunder

The fight borne once twice three times to infinity,
Certain that lives will waste indiscriminately,
The bullets and bombs fall on people

That know not what reason and give not a care for such treason

You're missing the point, all you,
Who war over steeples and minarets,

Or fossils and fickle bets, political difference,

Dissidence the heart and mind of our D.I.Y. prison

The righteous would but struggle,
If only for the right to choose your soul dwelling,

The hammer and sickle, the stars, stripes,

Moon star and jack united, would but have us delighted

No matter your flag, surely you see,
Eternity is not for this earth,
Whilst ants tear each other limb from sore limb

Please, please see, there isn't much left,

And soon there'll be none to squabble and quibble over,

You'll query why ever we committed such murder,

Too late to surrender

Too late, will be our cry,

As we die a great race of potential abandoned,
The forgotten standard we set ourselves past,

Our mast broken splintered and sails torn,

Splattered with blood duly mourned,

And scorned searing hatred

I love this! it is so relevant to the news of the day and perfectly suns up the feelings of all who are sick of war
