Her Face

Her Face

A Poem by Sue
"

I lost my grandma in 1987 but I still find myself dreaming about her sometimes and miss her all over again....

"

Her face sometimes comes, unbidden, into my dreams

The soft blue eyes twinkle, a crinkly smile of love

And for a moment I forget

That she is long gone

Her presence remains etched deep in my memory

Childish days spent full of raucous laughter

Snatched away so soon

By the ravages of disease

Still forever she remains as she once was

Silvery grey hair blowing gently in the wind

Running into her open arms

To be held so close

Perhaps because that love remains undiminished

Though many years have passed, I miss her still

And only in the twilight hours

Do I possess her once again

(For my grandma Nellie May Dean 1897-1987)
