Silent Scream

Silent Scream

A Poem by Sue
"

Sometimes I think if only people would just open their eyes and LOOK!....

"

It’s a shame they said over gardens walls

He seemed so nice, so unassuming

Enjoyed his work and never a cross word

Between the two

The kids always appeared so well turned out

Not a hair out of place, clean and polite

She had a lovely smile, all teeth

Always something nice to say

Shame about how she kept falling over

Bit clumsy she told them, always was

Must have been painful, all those bruises

Never complained, she didn’t, not once

Now the police have taken him away

Social services came and took the kids

An ambulance carried away the broken body

Can’t quite believe it everyone said

People tutted, who would have known it

They seemed so happy, that couple and kids

So all the curtains fall back into place

And a lonely teddy bear lies forgotten on the lawn
