Supermodel

Supermodel

A Poem by Sue
"

I wrote this when I was struggling with my own image and those of women in the media...

"

Stick-like you retreat under the covers

Saying you won’t arise for more than ten thousand

And we watch on, amused, as you are pampered

Preened to perfection, no hair out of place

Defying nutrition and sensible diet

You struggle to continue the life-sucking myth

That beauty belongs to pouting and showcase

No room for the ordinary such as we

When will you see that your monstrous creation

Will one day destroy all your dreams

Unable to belong to the world of reality

Where everyone’s kind of beauty abounds

So don’t put that nose so high in the air

Consider your days not so long

Because we, the outsiders, are waiting daily

Knowing our time will soon come
