Voices in the Night

Voices in the Night

A Poem by Sue
"

I wrote this for those who struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome...

"

The smoke has cleared, the guns have stopped

The soldiers have departed

Quietness descends once more

Upon the broken-hearted

But is it still, the night-time sky

As dusk falls around the land

What strange sounds can be heard

Drifting across the sand

Voices in the night are screaming

Nightmares fill the darkest hours

All our heroes lives are shattered

Death it haunts them, peace devours

One more soldier joins the forces

Of those who can’t forget the war

Forever maimed their minds demented

Filled with what they saw

For those who pay for death’s resources

A sobering thought lives on

Can you condone those lives you’ve wasted

For whom the fight goes on…
