Moving Out

Moving Out

A Poem by Bethany
"

Every few years my family moves. Each section of this poem describes one aspect of the experience we go through when doing so.

"

My breath is fast.

My legs feel like lead.

I must complete this task,

And not forget my items in the shed!

Tape the boxes!

Move the bed!

Take down the curtains!

Someone go get ted!

Beware of the spiders!

They lurk here and there.

They’re little fighters.

I do swear!

Keep an eye on that weather.

It’s always changing.

We don’t want to be rained on!

Keep on pacing!

The truck’s loaded.

We’re ready to go.

Hop on in!

Let’s get this show on the road!

I love the way you've built tension and anxiety in something as mundane as moving. Lovely.

Must be tough moving all the time, but probably better than spending ones entire life in a single location. Nice poem.
