California Cemetery

California Cemetery

A Poem by Summer Grace

California Cemetery in
The rain palm trees
In the gray world
On a gray day stand

Dripping with rain
Through the mausoleum
Window she watches
The rain fall through

The wet glass she sees
The rain obscure the
World of the dead
Angels and palms

Calm all around as the
Rain falls over the dead
Buried in the green ground
Resting in peace among

The Oakland hills, among
The angels, stories long
Buried under the rain
Stories forgotten long

After all the pain in a
California cemetery in
The rain statues watch
Stone angels see the
Dead for all eternity

Based on a picture someone I know took of Mountain View Cemetery, Oakland, California, on a rainy day
