If You See Janine

If You See Janine

A Poem by December Blaize

On rainy days in Boston, when it's nice in Colorado,
I think of her and wonder where she is today,
Did she hitchhike to California, or fly out to Chicago?
Is she happy and is she getting along okay?

It doesn't matter that everyone knows my name,
The only one who matters is the one I pushed away,
I should have known all along she wasn't to blame,
Now when I sleep I see her tears fall in dismay.

She was everything I ever wanted, my sweetest song,
And on her silent Mondays I can hear her speak to me,
I can hear her pretty laugh and know that I was wrong,
So if you see Janine, will you tell her that I'm sorry?
