Remnants of a Blazing Fire

Remnants of a Blazing Fire

A Poem by Siren

What do you call a sun that’s just set

If its light is still painting the sky?

The Heaven’s blue is not too deep yet,

But shows remnants of a blazing fire.

The stars are not quite really showing,

The moon has not yet fully appeared.

The wanderer is comforted, knowing

Tonight’s won’t be as cold as he feared.

The clouds are but a whispered trace,

Following the sun down to its den"

Marching like young soldiers to the place

Where drums echo the hearts of dead men.

I came out here to gaze and to see

The near-spring sun fade to star-filled night,

But the Heavens had in store for me

To better learn of timing through sight.

What do you call a sun that’s just set

If its light I still flooding the sky?

Call it the same as hearts that beat yet,

Enduring to once more rise and try.

Author's Note

This was one of the hardest ones to finish. The last few lines really did not want to cooperate with my pattern of syllables. But, it was worth the work. I really enjoyed writing this.
