See Me

See Me

A Poem by Susanna F
"

An older one I recently edited.

"

I see you now

You turn away

Is that fear in your eyes

Or the lies' decay?

Look at me

Don’t avert your eyes

What do you see?

What do you despise?

Is it that I left

What you think is true

Or that I’ve done

What you wish to do?

Is it your faith

That’s wearing thin?

Maybe I’ve committed

The envied sin?

Look at me

Don’t avert your gaze

I’ve done nothing wrong

But clear the haze.

Your minds in chains

You sit and judge

Tell yourselves I’m evil

My joy begrudge.

But here I am

With open eyes

My questions answered

No more lies

Look and see me

Don’t turn away

There is life out here

It starts today

God won’t smite me

For my free will

Whatever they may say

I’m happy still.

So take a look

At someone free

What do you truly believe

When you see me?

Your words flow with such a brilliant rhythm and rhyme, singing this song of freedom and courage. There is a plea to be seen for who you truly are... may you be blessed to find someone so patient to discover the depth of your heart and mind.
