A Poem by Suvada
"

For someone that I truly do care for

"

Today was the first time,

in 5 months..

that we have talked, face to face at least

Its good to actually see your smile,

and hear your voice.

I never realized that I would miss any of that.

Never realized that I would miss our walks,

miss our conversations,

miss our laughs,

miss your hugs and presence.

Never realized any of that

Until today..

But I don’t want you to know that I miss any of that.

I don't want to hurt you again.

I believe you're better off without me in your life.

But you don’t..

You believe that I’m the only good thing in your life,

You believe that everything seems better with me in your life,

You believe that I’m the light in your dark,

And You believe that I rise you up when you fall.

I’m not saying for you to not believe it,

Cherish it, yes.

But don’t depend on me

I’m too scared that I will hurt you

And If I do,

I don’t want to be the reason,

that you have to fake a smile everyday,

that you have to force a laugh out of you,

and that the sparkle in your eyes

will just be dark and sad.

I love you enough that I don’t want to hurt you anymore.

There is much to contemplate here Suvada. If we are idolised in such a way we can feel that we are under undue pressure and this can lead to fracturing of friendships instead of solidifying them. Then again we can get so much from a friendship where we are admired and we can set good example to and be a friend and see where it goes - if anywhere.
Someone had a quote today on WC - I cant remember who so i apologise to them and you for that but the gist of the quote was that none of us are rich enough that we can afford to lose a friend.
I was reminded of that when i read this.
And furthermore I want to paraphrase a super hero movie from recent times where the super hero is told with great power comes great responsibility - well, with friendship comes even more power (and by extension even more responsibility) IMHO.
Thank you for sharing this :)
