A Poem by Katrina Abdul-Mateen
"

wrote this poem in April 2001 while I was a military wife of a US Navy sailor yes we still together

"
"Baby girl, how was your day?"
"Holding things down for Big J?"
These are the words I want to hear you say
Ja's little mama, daddy's lil girl
These are the titles I hold in this world
But still mama's pearl
Handed to you to cherish and love
OUR mariage, OUR love, NO ONE could conceive of
Back together only by guidance from above
Insecure and lonely while you sail the sea
Wanting you, needing you here with me
Protecting me, please stop neglecting me
Let me in, let me in I'm knocking on your door
I'm beating down the door, can't take the silence anymore
Sex is the glue in a marriage, but what happens when you are gone
House is empty, ingredients missing for a happy home
But I hold on, be strong, duties of a military wife
Through all the struggles and strife
"Keep the home fires burning" story of my life
Prepare for our future, hold fast to our dreams
YOU are my KING and I your QUEEN
And THAT nothing can come between
So while you sail the sea
I'll wait patiently
For when we can be together, that will be the day
But in the meantime
In between time
"Baby girl how was your day?"
"Holding things down for Big J?"
Is all I wanna hear you say
