my life is a prolonged toilet joke so far

my life is a prolonged toilet joke so far

A Poem by Alan

to the contrary, a bathroom stall is

not a safe room, a sanctuary, from

socializing. why is it that it gives

the sensation of a confessional?

You’ve gagged yourself before in an effort

to relieve extraordinary pains in there,

but it clogged the drain. glanced at the mirror

at a gaggle of girls, seized by horror

with sudden realization, and you

have watched stalls breathe, in awe and disbelief

smiling, the cold tile, a spider’s pottsfield

you’ve sucked the world’s finest cigarette, too,

with a full bladder; kicked open the door

head in turmoil, fearing no one, with

unzipped pants, reborn gaunt, fresh-faced hyper

shouldn’t ever have, but you always did

“even god has to pee sometimes, even god

has to pee sometimes!”

...there comes no response.
