The Sinking Ship

The Sinking Ship

A Poem by Sylvia Chika

Frozen beneath the ocean

Lost in a world of cold

Down down he goes

Both hands above his sinking head

Frozen fingers in search of his love

A sunken ship

A freezing night

Filled with disaster and screams

Voices wailing in desperation

Bodies floating in chaos

Pieces of our once loved ship everywhere

This abyss was dreadful to the living

Down down she went

A plunge to the heart of the ocean

A loud cry she gave

The deafening sound drowned their cry

Down below she went

Stealing the beats of many hearts

The cold won the fight

The Olympians won again

And down below did the Titan go again
