A Poem by George

let me take your picture,
so I can clutch beauty and grace in my hands,
for I have none.

It's really simple and I like it. Seems like it would be a short line from a classic play or a movie with Humphrey Bogart.
And I'm also glad that you indeed left it at this. If you had written anymore, I am not so sure this would have been as powerful.

haha, since i've had 'dead man's hill' by indigo girls stuck in my head for like the past three hours,
i find the irony of this piece to me pretty amusing.
i think i most appreciate its honesty. i mean, if the narrator said it in real-life to someone,
they and the person they said it to would probably cry.
yet it is so dehumanized once it is presented in words.
it's the same way with all writing--the thoughts and emotions become almost up for auction
where everyone will judge with a 'yes' or 'no.'

i think the essence of the piece is beautiful. and i love how it contradicts with the narrator's view.
my ap language teacher wasn't in class last week, so we ended up having a student-led discussion,
so we picked this kid, pj, because he is super sweet and open-minded and is the perfect candidate for leading a class. well, we ended up having this insanely beautiful discussion about what art is. and we pretty much decided that is exists in everything. no matter what it is, it holds artistic value.

so i like how this piece is concise enough to relay a direct scene
that can be interpreted (i think this is just what i will blanket say about your short pieces lol)

and i mean, the piece even says that just seeing it/him/her (that he wants to photograph) isn't beautiful to the narrator.
it's just a really interesting, neat piece.

clutch is a wonderful verb. :)
