Do you know?

Do you know?

A Poem by Tamara Jaber

A rose was entrusted to you, to grow
What did you do of it, do you know?
Of snowy white it was,
It had beauty to show
And a fragrance, oh what a fragrance
And a shiny look and glow.

Did you water it everyday?
Your love did you show?
Did you find the perfect soil for it?
A pot, a place in your heart, a vow?

When its thorns used to pierce you hurtfully
Did you treat it wisely, or did you just let go?

A rose was entrusted to you, did you know?
Someone once told me:
You reap what you sow
A rose was entrusted to you, to grow
Did your rose bloom into a thousand springs
Or did you just leave it to vanish
Quite and slow?

Whether the rose represents love, a lover or an actual rose, no one wants to be guilty of neglecting such things--though, of course, people do it all the time. They just don't want to feel guilty of it.
A lovely and perceptive poem, Tamara.

I felt I was saying the words aloud... As one reads down the lines of the verse... The relationship grows within... all the way to the final question... Thanks for sharing...

A beautiful poem. I like the questions brought to life by the gentle flow of thoughts in the poem.

Thanks a lot, loved your feedback :)
This is a beautiful poem with a beautiful creative theme. It inspired me to write the following poem which you may have as a gift to do with as you like since you inspired it:

Forlorn Rose

It's too bad you're lonely now.
Why is it she didn't stay?
How much love did you allow?
Did you aerate her clay?
Did you make a solemn vow
to quell her thirst everyday.
Wipe those sad tears from your brow.
You're the cause of her dismay.
