i'd nigh shun

i'd nigh shun

A Poem by Tanner Brockwell

i’d nigh shun
the half poured glass
and click poof
smolder in the wave of
blue flames kissed
forms unleashed and blend
into the cloudy state
of intermingled
fluid form hazy
too much could make the night
or take the night
on the gossamer wings
of a green friend
then pounded it
try all at once
the sweet sugary essence
tingling enveloping
and down down suffused
the body warm
the breath rich
atmospheric temporal
elongated moment
stretched out into
the merest molecular strings
and atoms
the heated universe
cools under the poignant sky
drops upon the hand
pittering pat upon the leaves
and between each step
embraced in the world
the constant swirl
each life is brief upon this stage
around turn turn turning
around so that the fiery step
quick and fast holds orbit of
the celestial and the faint
faster go and then again
pulsing song and pulsing bring
down down lowering
as the log we sleep
in to the dusk has gone
the dusk has gone and so we keep
rendezvous with this i see
the fabric stretched
pulled weft and weave
in the threads between the spin
a weaver once tarrying
until the shuttle back across
rebound back again
the dexterous repeating energy
weaving this garment
and such is craft
this total and this is sweet
