The Parted Veil

The Parted Veil

A Poem by Tarry Franck

A fire blazing
Cloaked dancers join hands
Singing of new
And of sages,
The fire lit the sky so bright, so high
It looked as if it could reach the moon
As children trick or treated
They waited in hopes the veil
Would part soon,
And chanted with their hands
Reaching to the sky
Held out to the cosmos
Performing rituals of all styles,
Waiting for their passed kin to appear
Hoping to feel their essence
For all that is there participating
Then through the firelight and the darkness
They did approach
To touch their hearts and souls
And let them know
They are always in their presence,
Even through times they can not see them
They assure it doesn't mean
They don't walk along, beside
The enchanters', one by one, show thankfulness
And their blessings every day
To let them know
That now it will help them through
Their sorrowful times
And when they are filled with joy
They will offer it up to all of you.
