[ soul ] ingenue

A Poem by terry smith

I peeled the stigma of you
like cotton-mouth
off my thrice stained soul
with a bottle of scotch & demerol
adhered your memory to a collage
of cardiac scars & yellow tinged bruises
a shrine to the church
of lust & regret
the stained glass
a reminder
of the sins committed
in loyalty to a cause...
....the search for love
