Dog Years

Dog Years

A Poem by terry smith

So for me

I date somebody

by what candy bars & cereal

they ate

mine are a three musketeers & captain crunch

my fathers was a Milky Way & Wheaties

his fathers was a penny candy cause who could afford a candy bar

and three hours of work & a smoke

before the crack of dawn

I don't know

what they are doing nowadays

but I find myself

turning into my grandfather

and when i was a kid in NY....candy bars were a nickel.
my favorites on your list....Reeses Peanut Butter cup...with Mounds a close second.
cereal-wise...no contest...Captain Crunch it is.
i really like the title...we turn into our parents and grandparents faster in years than we ever expect.
