Male Pride

This is another favorite from the open mic circuit, especially with the women folk! I wrote this in response to a bumper sticker I found on a jeep that said "Girls Kick A*s". As the Bible says, eye for an eye!

Every time woman brings me down
with her cruel jokes
and heartless put-downs,
I rise again with pride
to think my footprints
were first upon this planet.

Every fruit tree
bearing fruit
was my own to eat.

I rose from the swirling dust
and ruled the great garden
with the sovereignty of a king
endowed by the Creator
over the beasts of the field
and the birds of the air.

Every corner
of this world
was mine

before the great injustice
of the coming of woman.
