Why did you die when I killed you? (The Jeffery Asbury story)

A Story by Ann A Myta

It was then after viciously beating his estranged wife to death inside the Fox Lake police department, did he then proceeded to leave the police station stained and covered in her blood that was now all over his hands and clothing. Now somewhat disoriented, he would later state that how he had no recollection of the a fore mentioned incident, however, the prosecutor on the other hand would argue that this was just a bogus ploy attempted by him in order to avoid first-degree murder charges that would soon be lodged against him.

As of May 16, 2008 Jeffery Allen Asbury sits in the Dodge Correctional Institute awaiting his extradition to a maximum-security prison to begin serving out a 40 year to life prison sentence.

It was Judge Andrew Bissonnette along with a jury of his piers upon deliberation who found 40-year-old Jeffery Allen Asbury guilty of first-degree reckless homicide in the beating death of his estrange wife whom he’d been married to for 17 years.

35-year-old (sherry Nummerdor) was assaulted and beaten to death inside of the Fox Lake police department on March 11th 2007. To which Jeffery Asbury tried pleading not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect, but to no avail. But upon further examination by two of the court appointed physicians, neither could support Mr. Asbury’s claim.

Jeffery Asbury did however state that he never intentionally meant to kill his wife, the mother of his children. Nevertheless, what went through his mind on that ill-fated day may never truly be understood by anyone other than Mr. Jeffery Asbury himself.

Well right about now your probably asking yourself just who I’m I, how did I come to acquire the inside knowledge of Jeffery Asbury’s life surrounding this particular murder case, and just how credible are my facts. Well for one thing as of May 16, 2008 I was the lone cellmate of Jeffery Asbury and everything that I say in writing is what Jeffery wanted to say. And for another thing, his is a story that had to be told sooner or later, so why not hear it from me, Ann A. Myta (animator)

The deceased Sherry Nummerdor and my own beloved mother were both killed; no scratch that, murdered; at the hands of mad men within a civil service facility. And although I have yet to write a book that didn’t deceive, misdirect, astound, or even surprise my readers; however, this will turn out to be a different kind of a shocker. And although this is not intended to be a tell-all against those whom he felt were obstructing his attempts at reconciling with his wife and family, nor is it intended to be the revealing of rattled skeletons in anyone’s family closet, while at the same time this tale is in no way not considered by him to be a confession of any sorts, but instead an account of the guilt that he finds hard to put into words. Yet, although at times throughout the telling of his side of this tragic story, it will come across as an admission of guilt. Where this is more or less, simply an insight into the interventions and the steps that were taken on behalf of one Jeffery Asbury, as the world, and those within his close-knit community tried to take on as a preventive measure to a foreseen situation that could have easily been avoided, or could it have been?

First, and foremost before I go on any further, Jeffery Asbury wishes to first humbly apologize to his children, Ashley, Calvin, and David. Further stating how he never intended for this situation to escalate out of control like it did, after-all Sherry Nummerdor Asbury was, is your mother, and I thank god for her every day, for her giving you to me, therefore I loved her dearly, even up until that time, that only God knows what came over me.

I now only wish that you all could find it in your hearts to not hold it against me, as I ask and plead in all sincerity for your forgiveness.

Your loving dad Jeffery Allen Asbury.
