Shatter

Shatter

A Poem by The Devils Mouth

It gets better
every night less
but I know that's not true
I know that if I wait,
crouching in the shadows
is what I've been dreading
the blade that slits my throat
the stone that shatters the glass
and every time it shatters
the more shards of broken glass there are to pick up
I know that when I pick up the pieces
I'll get cut, I'll bleed
but I have to anyway
because if I didn't,
there is only one thing left to shatter
ME
