Hidden

Hidden

A Poem by The Devils Mouth

I am hidden
an outer shell cover me
smiling an laughing my shell
inside I rage, like an ocean caught in the storm
only calm when the eye is centered on it
I clash and hiss, clawing at them
I slam against my shell, like waves breaking on rocks
steady it holds, not daring to show how damaged and broken the glass is on the inside
but it's starting to crack
a long cut, like the jagged edges of a cliff
the one I'm threatening to through myself over
slowly it comes, lengthening
until I'm ripped, torn tattered pieces flying
until my shell is gone
and only a dark, staved, withering creature is left.
