After Shower Thoughts

After Shower Thoughts

A Poem by Dru Arthur

After taking a shower,
I stand before the bathroom mirror,
I look at the person before me,
I both know her and don't,
She hides behind the glass,
Her eyes hold my father's rage,
While mine hold my mother's fear.
I feel her eyes glaring into my soul,
Devoid of her own.
I can tell she's disgusted by what i am,
She's disappointed by what i look like,
I owe her everything i owed my father,
She owns me just as my mother is owned.
I am her perfect victim
And she's my perfect villain.
We may switch roles,
When the rage takes over,
But as long as mirrors exist,
She shall haunts me and i shall be haunted.
