Dark Tree

Dark Tree

A Poem by V. K. Harris

Dark Tree

Something inside scurried away,

For this as all, Of darkend day,

And with, Of things I loved of wrong,

A mind of empty thoughts, I long,

For in those days I traveled so,

Memories scaterred behind, My soul,

For may somehow it finds the way,

A life of living another day,

To smell those scents of flowery bloom,

And hear the sounds of life a loom,

A twisting path of dreams may last,

Tis loss of light within the glass,

At times I gaze below the ledge,

Or lay upon the thorny hedge,

The pain unsensed in crimson breath,

Under this tree of naked death...
