Personal Touch

Personal Touch

A Poem by Mark Anthony Games (Human Voice)

If I could learn to just accept what I am

I would not feel the constant bite of rejection

I would not suffer so harshly this emptiness inside

All those sarcastic comments would not feel like truth

They would not highlight the failure and disappointment in my life

And I could look in the mirror with out flinching in shame

If could learn to love myself as much as I long to be loved

If I could find comfort beneath my skin

Instead of constantly fighting to break free from its smothering

If I could understand my limits are challenges and not restrictions

If I could find faith in my own standing and not covert expectation

Then I would not be rejected each time my world collapses

If I could find the strength to accept the blame and responsibility

So much time would be saved looking for the murderer of my dreams

Then I would know myself and know my path

Then something lost would be found and the myth become fact.

How can it be that the person you never leave remains a stranger

I have buried him someplace deep inside beneath denial and defeat

If I could find the clarity to silence the many voices in my head

If I could find the conviction to evict the many squatters in my soul

If I could find the courage to believe in what i want, not what I am told

Then I would be living my life instead of copying someone else's

Then I would be alive and not just existing

And I would be loved so unconditionally by the one person that matters, me

Wow. People have such a hard time trying to be accepted by others, let alone looking inside and tackling the hard task of accepting themselves!
This was another great piece, thought provoking, emotional... Anyone and everyone can relate to this, which makes it so so much better than the greatness it already is.

It has the wonderful suggestion of accepting yourself without being self- centered. It's one thing to be content and strive for better without belittling, and it's another thing to become arrogant and selfish...

Very good write, sir, I quite liked this one ^^

Another great poem, really enjoyed it. I can relate to it because it's easy to criticize yourself and belittle yourself. Not knowing who you are. You explain those emotions perfectly of just wanting to love yourself and be free spirited.
