I Don't Know Who I Am But

I Don't Know Who I Am But

A Poem by the king's scribe
"

me, about my own depressing a*s writing

"
I've read my writing,
I know my style.
I know I write of betrayals,
Of decaying dynasties,
Lives that start crumbling
Before your very eyes.
I do it to evoke emotion,
Provoke a reaction.
I don't want happiness,
I don't aim for your joy.
The melancholy is purposeful.
Because sadness is strong
And easy to create;
Poems that aren't happy
Are the easiest to write.

I'm not a good writer-
I can't fill your cracks with words.
I can only give you more cracks
And write you to pieces and,
Until you are made of your crevices,
I will only take the easy way out.
