But Because

But Because

A Poem by Lucien

You lie not because you have to
But because you want to
You lie not because you need to
But because you like to
You are lied to not because you are not trustworthy
But because you cannot trust
You are lied to not because people are cruel
But because you are cruel
You are hated not because you are unpleasant
But because you are hateful
You are not loved not because you are not lovable
But because you cannot love
You are bitter not because you must be
But because you do not know how to be any different
You are bitter not because you have learned to be
But because it’s the only thing you can be
The butterfly falls from the sky not because it wants to
But because it can no longer fly
You fall not because you want to
But because you were never on top to begin with
The rain, however, falls because it can.
Not because you need something to hide your tears.

You never had a choice.
You had all the choices.
You never had a shot.
You never took your shot.
You never tried,
You never thought you could.

Personal choice is the progenitor of fate, the back story of every failure. I like the seeds you scatter. Refraiming thought patterns is the key to changing destiny. Thanks

Too many ideas, too little drive. Honestly my thoughts run wild as I lay on my bed and try to focus on any one thing. I try my best, as many of us do. Have a lovely day and maybe check out some of.. more..
