Let Me Be

Let Me Be

A Poem by The Nameless
"

Found this when I went though some stuff... It's a poem for parents from a teenager.

"

All my life you've looked after me
But you demand some kind of return
Don't you understand that we are family
And respect you have to earn

I understand it is my duty to serve
But thank you's come from the heart
How could you have the nerve
To tear this family apart?

I try my best to do what you say
But I am still human, I make mistakes
So please don't hurt me
Because when I know I've done wrong, I already flee

My best moments are those I share alone
They are secrets and they will always remain my own
For wherever I let you into my life
You break me down and criticize

You expect too much of me
For a down-to-earth teen
But yet you want me to be logic
And forget all childish dreams

I'm tired for all motivation
To be the want for approval
But I'm stuck with this desparation
And stuck is all I'll ever be
My biggest frustration

So please, oh, please
Just let me be
It is my life, not yours
My future taking its course
