Jealousy

Jealousy

A Poem by Amelia Lawrence
"

a poem inspired by my favorite author as of late....millions of teen girls feel the same way, but I look at it critically I suppose.

"

I have read your books too many times,

and each time I read them, I begin to whine.

I feel myself in your writing, not your characters, not the story,

Your writing, your style.  I could have done what you did,

and made it worth my while.

I was blocked for too long, and now I feel it coming on again,

so I take your inspiration, and read it over again,

Waiting for your characters to refresh my own.

But the plots are so different, I have to move on.

Why, oh why did you get published,

while my writing begins to rot,

on my computer, in my notebooks?

And why do you have so many fans?

How can I get there, what can I do?

I wish for the success that has found you.
