The Girl

The Girl

A Poem by *joy*

You tried to love the girl who could never be contained

She wasn’t made to own

She wasn’t made to claim

She’s an Arizona sandstorm

Sea-foam pearled on a wave

She’s a coastal shock of lightning

And the passion we all crave

The midnight moon and stars would never be enough

She would need to have the sky as well

And a golden sun to touch

You dream about her eyes

And ignore your rooted yearn

You kick yourself for giving up

And hope that she’ll return

A heart that beats to fail is not within in your chest

Someone else could be your second start

You could pass this new one’s test

But she was everything you wanted

She had so much that you need

She might not want you back

But to try you may succeed

So, true, she’s like the wind- free and so untamed

But she compliments your every move

To lose would be shame

You could be the sand that fuels her

A wave that carries her to shore

The thunder to her lightning

The man her heart asked for
