See Wall, Meet Head
A Poem by therisa
An introvert living in, an extrovert world.
Why do I like I'm talking To a brick wall When I say "No"?
Realize You're trying to help With your suggestions For getting involved With others.
But I know How my body And mental make-up Will react.
To outside stimuli Like those You propose.
While You think You're helping me.
In reality The opposite Is true.
On my physical And mental levels.
Like tossing me Out of a plane Without a parachute To break my fall.
Believing I'll walk away Uninjured.
Not willing To risk everything On the faint hope You're right.
When you don't understand How it feels To be An introvert.

Love is giving someone the power to destroy you - then trusting them not to.
I thought that was a nice quote to share.
Meet head = meat head = no listen - got it.
People see introverts as more than people they are a challenge I feel for their talents and skills (especially social) and thats why they dont seem to listen. Eventually the penny will drop - they will stop - and probably walk away - forever. The Introvert has to (if they value that friendship) come to the table with some concessions too. Like any arrangement/partnership/relationship its all about give and take Therisa - thats what I took from this
Thanks for sharing :))

But your interpretation works too. :) I understand, but I am talking how the mental health system seems geared towards, an extrovert personality, ignoring this approach doesn't work for almost half of the world. As for my friends, I place their health needs, ahead of my own. And, they're aware of my own needs, when it concerns mental health issues.

its easy to ignore or brow-beat the introvert - making them feel like timewasters so thats what I found happens. My friend an extrovert goes to the doctors and demands what he needs - and gets it - I remember one time saying to the exact same doctor that I had seen a treatment of the Internet that I might like to try - and he just guffawed so i left his practice.
But theres the rub too - often prioritising friends over your self (thats a natural attitude to you that you probably will always have even if its to your own detriment such is the givers heart)

I had to fight, to get myself, into cognitive behaviour therapy program, provided by a local hospital. Or, are transphobic, even though, they're gay/lesbian, themselves.
As for my friends, they're willing to spend money on, a round trip cab ride, if I phone them, saying, I need help. It works both ways. Besides, I would never abuse our relationship, as making friends, is very hard for me.

I picked up a few techniques but nothing to write home about - about a years therapy - very disappointed in that as I had regarded it as my panacea after reading so much about it. Dont get me wrong talking therapies is grand but you need to have everything at your disposal at the same time - holisitic therapy is the only way to go IMHO.
One friend who will do what you described is worth a million facebook friends - never forget that Therisa .

When I'm able, to go twice a week, to an art therapy program, where everyone is treated, as an artist, first and mental health survivor, second. As for Facebook, I don't have an account, as I value my privacy, too much, to let them, decide it, for me. So it's either, real or nothing.

Am doing projects that skill artists would balk at. Sadly, haven't been to the studio, since June 9, when I had an anxiety attack, which triggered my agoraphobia.

He let us, progress at our own pace, only stopping us, if he believes that the project we have chosen, is too much, for our ability. Ugh, not more meds, am already on, too many of them, as is, for my daily cocktail of pills.
