In Motion

In Motion

A Poem by Slow Leak

I understand electrons when I skate
I get what it feels like to take up fluid space
Left foot here, right foot there
Around the rink we go
I catch your eye and take a stride
Traction made as the inside of my blad makes a wedge
I push two adjacent lines to propel me
Towards your hand
Effortlessly we come together from wide angles
Barely bumping, we are anywhere in the electron cloud
2, 2, 4, 4, 8, 8, 16, 16, 32, 32, 64, 64
Squaring to infinity
My love, just keep spinning with me
Skating in harmony
Enjoying occasional discourse

The only time you truly understand what it feels like to be moving
Is the moment where you've stopped and measured
Recorded now, light stains the page forever
It is permanently placed
Boring through space
Imprinted in my brain
A colorful refrain
