Worth it

Worth it

A Poem by theunionisloud

If I told you a secret
about something you already knew
something everyone already knew
would you keep it anyway?
If the blue sky were
The deepest, darkest part of me,
would you be inclined to share?
Maybe you would laugh or
jokingly announce
on
whichever crowded sidewalk
of the world upon which
we stood.
But before my confessions,
could you have sworn upon
Blue Skies?
And now?
Can you swear by an ever-constant
wash of color
overhead?
Because it's you
Who splatters my skies
with thick, Grey muck
with every ounce of mockery
your voice adopts
but are otherwise my reason
for the crystal heavens.
And that's a secret worth keeping, I believe.
