My Words I'll Never Say

My Words I'll Never Say

A Poem by The Voice Inside Me

If there is just,
one thing you must know,
one thing,
I never told you,
was this.

You'll never know,
for I'll never say,
how I long for your heart.

To have your lips,
speak my name,
is my only desire.

When I was down,
down farther than the earth can hold,
beneath the rock and dirt and dust and flame,
your smile,
lifted me back up.

You,
you who say my scars,
for what they are,
a cry for help,
when every one else,
turned their back to me.

My night in shining armor,
come rescue me once more!
For I've fallen for a man,
who will never see,
how precious in my eyes,
is he.

Please,
Oh how I beg,
save me again!
Tell me you don't love me,
like I love you now!

You,
you who saw me,
when I was invisible,
in the crowd.

I want your heart in my hands,
my name on your lips,
your hand in mine,
forever.

But it cannot be,
for you see,
I was never yours,
and never will be.

Your eyes don't see how much I love you,
for they have fallen for someone else.

Or maybe,
they are too preoccupied,
with the mess I've made of myself.

So tell me you don't want me,
and make it very clear.

Because I love you my darling,

The words you'll never hear,
My words I'll never say.
