The Wishing Well

The Wishing Well

A Poem by thewholesoul
"

An ironic poem about Man's efforts to help solve the problem of world hunger and poverty

"
  I tossed a coin

into a wishing well

and made a wish

that not a single soul

would ever dwell

in poverty or in hunger.

But once I left

the wishing well

my coin was fished

from where it fell

by a hungry homeless beggar-man

scrounging for a dish

"Police!" "Police!"

I quickly yell

"That b*****d stole my wish!"

We can all 'wish' to end poverty and inequality in the world, but how far are we actually willing to go?

Great piece!

I was expecting it to be fished by a banker, but the beggar-man was just perfect!
